Paella fest

Coming on the heels of the successful first Festival of Paellas of Lake Chapala, is the annual Paella Festival scheduled for Saturday November 12, 2:30 p.m., at the Fraccionamiento Residencial Constanza in San Juan Cosala.

On the slopes of San Juan Cosalá, in a garden with a wonderful view of the lake, the contenders will gather around the paellas; the extended and round pans bear the same name as the dish that is prepared in them.
This event will be a culinary competition challenging the competitors to outdo each other by creating traditional and alternative forms of the well-known dish.
Entertainment includes live music by Lake Side Jazz Trio, as well as and flamenco music and dance throughout the afternoon from Pilar Villasante Espectaculo Flamenco.

Entry to the afternoon of food and fun is 470 pesos per person. Ticketed entry includes gazpacho, tortilla de patatas, paella, Dessert and a complimentary glass of wine. A no-host bar will be available.

Christmas floral show

The Lakeside Garden Guild announces its 2022 Holiday Arrangement Sale Friday, November 18, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Sol y Luna Hotel, Rio Bravo 10A in west Ajijc. Known for its stunning live flower arrangements, the show has reemerged after a two-year Covid hiatus. “Due to the yearlong Covid concerns of our members, we opted to take a more moderate approach in our fundraising,” says President Allegra Willis. “We are excited to be able to fund our new 2023 community projects focused on beautification, and continuing our tradition of renovating and improving local family gathering areas on the Malecon.”

Entrance to the event is free, and the Sol y Luna restaurant and bar will be open for patrons to enjoy.

Since 1968, Lakeside Garden Guild members enjoy monthly instructive programs on botanical or floral design subjects or related topics. Each November, the Floral Design Show hosts 250 guests to peruse 38 to 40 floral arrangements created by the members of the Guild.

The Guild is committed to restarting this outstanding event in 2023. The proceeds are reserved for the ongoing community projects sponsored by the Lakeside Garden Guild.
