Paella fest

The Arroceria del Lago invites one and all to the third annual Festival de la Paella, which will be a benefit for Poco A Poco San Pedro Itzican. The event is at Fracc. Constanza Residential Club in San Juan Cosala (above the Racquet Club) Saturday, March 25, 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. This event is a culinary competition, challenging the competitors to outdo each other by creating traditional and alternative forms of the well-known dish.

Coming on the heels of the successful Second Festival of Paellas of Lake Chapala, this third event promises to be a casual, al fresco afternoon of fragrant smells that will be a prelude to the feast of flavors to come.

On the slopes of San Juan Cosalá, above the Racquet Club with a wonderful view of the lake, the contenders will gather around the paellas; the extended and round pans bear the same name as the dish that is prepared in them.

The Second Paella Festival of Lake Chapala thus concluded with a clear sign of success in that there was not one grain of paella left.  We’re sure the Third Paella Festival of Lake Chapala will be the same.

The 500-peso ticket price includes a welcome glass of beer or sangria, appetizers (gazpachos, Spanish tortillas, coca or fogass valencianas), more than ten types of paellas, music by the Lakeside Jazz Trio, and a flamenco dance presentation by Danza Española and Pilar Villasante. A no-host bar with distilled spirits and beers will be available. No pets are allowed at this event.

Reservations are required and can be made with the event’s organizer, Francisco Romero, 333-139-4028, 333-106-8596.
