Open Circle
The theme of the next Open Circle at the Lake Chapala Society, on Sunday, September 22, at 10:30 a.m., is “International Day of Peace at Lakeside.”
In honor of the U.N. International Day of Peace, Open Circle will host a moderated panel focused on fostering harmony within our multicultural community. Speakers will offer diverse perspectives on Lakeside’s intercultural heritage and our daily interactions across cultural boundaries, highlighting some of the challenges we face. Chapala Birders
Tuesday September 24, the Chapala Birders meet at 8 a.m. at the “Sculpture” at the only traffic light in La Floresta, (south-east corner), leaving immediately for Mezcala Mountain (a 60-minute drive) for a Hawk Watch. Another Hawk Watch on the same mountain will be held on Thursday, September 26, same time.
Andares shopping trip
On Tuesday, September 24, the Lake Chapala Society is organizing a trip to Andares, the most exclusive shopping mall in the Guadalajara metropolitan area. Toy Run
Los Gueros Motorcycle Club is hosting a Christmas Toy Run fundraiser on Saturday, September 28, from 2 to 8 p.m. at Johnny’s Lounge, at Gonzalez Gallo 86 in San Antonio Tlayacapan. The event features ‘70s and ‘80s music by a DJ, a performance by the Lakeside Laughs Improv group, a silent auction, a tequila door prize, and a 50/50 raffle. Driver’s license classes
The Lake Chapala Society offers a two-session driver’s license class October 9 and 16. In the first session you will learn everything you need to obtain your Jalisco driver’s license with instructor Victor Camarena, and in the second session, the tests at the Chapala License Module will be held. Cost is 850 pesos. Sign up on the LCS website or at LCS offices.
Oktoberfest
American Legion Post 7 will hold an Oktoberfest celebration on Saturday, October 12, from 2 to 6 p.m. The event will feature a beer garden, music, dancing, raffles and a meal with a choice of bratwurst, chicken or veggie schnitzel, along with traditional German side dishes and dessert, all for 250 pesos. Proceeds will benefit the Love in Action Home for Children. Tickets available at the Legion.
Lakeside Garden Guild
Tickets are now available for the Lakeside Garden Guild’s 2024 Floral Art and Design Show, to be held on Saturday, November 16, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Privada Revolución 1 in Upper Ajijic. The Guild will be selling some of the arrangements to the public, and artist Efren Gonzalez will create a special painting to be auctioned at the event. All proceeds from the event will go towards the Guild’s annual community project, which this year aims to purchase computers for elementary schools in Ajijic that lack the funds for these educational tools.
