Petroglyph exploration
Archaeologist Peter Jimenez will give a tour in English of the petroglyphs at San Pedro Itzican on Saturday, October 25, 9 a.m. The tour involves a 10-minute walk of 800 meters.

Thrill The World Ajijic

Who knew that their neighbors were all Zombies? Here, the live undead dance up a storm at their last practice session in Plaza Bugambilias before their stage debut at the 15th annual consecutive Thrill The World Ajijic event Saturday, October 25, 3 p.m. on the Ajijic Malecon basketball court.
VinArt Ajijic
The 4th edition of the VinArt Ajijic wine festival takes place on Friday, October 31 and Saturday, November 1 at Paseo de La Huerta 57, in La Floresta. The program includes guided tastings with sommeliers and enologists, a paella contest on Friday, a catrinas and catrines contest on Saturday, and a Day of the Dead dance performance by Corazon de Luna. Live music by Elizze with Chris Cuevas, Kevin Real and Isael Angulo from 5 to 7 p.m. on both days with a DJ and special shows in the evening through midnight. Local restaurants will be selling food and wine both by the glass and bottle. Open Circle
Loreta Downs will present “How to Die Well: 10 Tips for the Living” at the Open Circle meeting on Sunday, October 26, at 10:30 a.m., held at the Lake Chapala Society.

Charro Frances

A Day of the Dead altar in memory of Charro Frances Francois Gouygo will be illuminated on Saturday, November 1, at 7 p.m. at Casa del Sol Inn in Ajijic. Guests are invited to bring a photo or small memento for the altar. The 290-peso entry includes a glass of wine, pan de muerto, and a live performance.
Feria Maestros de Arte
More than 85 artisans from across Mexico will gather to display and sell their handicrafts at the Feria Maestros del Arte, November 7 to 9 at the Hotel Real de Chapala in La Floresta. The products span 19 categories, including ceramics, textiles, rugs, wood, metal, paper, lacquerware, fiber, jewelry, furniture, paintings and engravings. Artisans are selected based on the quality of their work and their ability to continue producing these traditional crafts. While some exhibitors are returning from previous years, up to half will be first-time participants in 2025.
The Feria showcases a wide range of Mexican folk art, from traditional, world-class forms to innovative new techniques. In addition to the exhibition, a series of live performances and conferences on folk art themes will take place each day.
Take a sip
The Lake Chapala Society will hold a wine tasting of some of the best of Mexican and international bottles on Saturday, November 8, from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. in the LCS garden. Live music by Abby Rivera. Tickets, 400 pesos, including appetizers, can be picked up at the LCS offices or at Paz Vinos and Licores.
Memorial mural
American Legion Post 7 Chapala is sponsoring a mural contest to honor veterans and beautify the Post. The winning artist will receive 3,000 pesos and be recognized in the Guadalajara Reporter. Entry forms for the contest are available at the Legion, Morelos 114 in Chapala, and must be submitted by November 15 and a design submitted by December 13.
Remembrance Day
Anavets and the American Legion unite to celebrate Remembrance Day and Veterans Day at a ceremony on Tuesday, November 11 at Mama’s Musical Bar, Gonzalez Gallo 86 in San Antonio Tlayacapan. Doors open at 10 a.m. and all are asked to be seated by 10:30 a.m. After the ceremony, American Legion Post 7 will hold a dinner and dance with music by Old Souls Band. Doors open 1 p.m. and dinner is served at 3 p.m. See the ad on page 11.
Holiday Home Tour
The Raquet Club will hold a home tour, Saturday, November 15, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a cost of 300 pesos and a bazaar and art show from noon to 5 p.m. Tickets are available at It’s Kinda Bazaar, Fenix Realty and the Raquet Club offices.
