Car Show

For the fourth year in a row, the Riviera Nayarit welcomes the Nuevo Vallarta Car Show. The event is organized by Wolfs Bugs Nuevo Vallarta Club to promote camaraderie among car and bike aficionados in a family-friendly atmosphere. Prizes go to the best cars and bikes in different categories: Classic, Euro, Tuning (Modified), Custom (Personalized), and motorcycles.

Saturday, January 11 and Sunday, January 12, in the Fibba Parking lot, across from the 3.14 Plaza in Nuevo Vallarta.

The 15th edition of the Vallarta Cup Race Series, an event organized by the Vallarta Yacht Club, is back.

At least 20 sailboats are expected to participate.

Meet new and old friends, and after the races, enjoy beer, food and live music at the Yacht Club.

The start/finish line is in front of Marival, Nuevo Vallarta.

ANA Dance Fundraiser

The Fifth Annual Amapas Neighborhood Association (ANA) Dinner Dance will fill the open-air tropical setting of Bistro Teresa at Casa Cupula. It’s ANA’s biggest fundraiser and this year they’re going ‘60s flashback!

Not only do you get a fantastic dinner, but you get to meet new people, be entertained and dance the night away. You don’t need to come with a dance partner either, because everybody dances with everybody.

ANA is one of Puerto Vallarta’s largest and most active neighborhood associations. With over 400 members, their goal is to improve the quality of life in Amapas, focusing on security, infrastructure, responsible development and member social events. The annual dinner dance is the most anticipated social event of the season for ANA members and friends.

Thursday, January 16, 7 p.m. at Bistro Teresa at Casa Cupula. Cost $US100.

Sobriety Under The Sun

The Sobriety Under the Sun Convention offers a memorable weekend with a great speaker line-up, workshops and AA and Al-Anon meetings. It provides an opportunity for sobriety, recovery, fellowship and fun under the sun.

January 17-20, 9 a.m.-6 p.m. daily at the Westin Resort & Spa.

Poker Tour

The Annual PV Poker Tour sponsored by Murphy’s Irish Pub, Nacho Daddy, Escondida Sports Bar, Gringo Loco Cantina, All-Access Sports Bar & Bar La Playa, Kelly’s Pour Favor and Steve’s Sports Bar will be held on Saturday, January 18, from 1 p.m.

Participants will be required to make a 150-peso donation to take part in the event, which starts at Nacho Daddy, Basilio Badillo 287 in Old Town. The last stop will be at 5 p.m. at Murphy’s Irish Pub. Here, there will be entertainment, a raffle, 50/50 drawings and the announcement of the winners. Shuttle transportation will be provided by the participating bars. Players can ride in the shuttle or walk.

One half of the donation proceeds go to the Jay Sadler Project; the other half to the first three placed winners.

The money raised will be used to install picnic tables in the Las Palmas and Vista Hermosa parks. Jim Mawdesley and Jim Ranallo will build the picnic tables and Jay Sadler Project volunteers and Martin Escobar will install.

Fiesta Tropical

The Vallarta Garden Club’s annual gala is one of the most festive events of the season and always sells out.

This year’s fiesta will be held at Oscar’s Restaurant on Tuesday, January 21. A reception and silent auction are set for 6 p.m., dinner and dancing begin 8 p.m.

Migratory Birds Festival

The International Festival of Migratory Birds of San Blas, Nayarit takes place January 19-26. The aim is to strengthen the preservation of the habitat of migratory birds of the region and the improvement of the community’s quality of life. The event is organized by the International Migratory Bird Festival of San Blas board, a non-profit organization.

Routes for bird watching have been designed within the context of the festival. Over 13 years, more than 1,500 birdwatchers have experienced observing, documenting and photographing the more than 400 species of birds registered in the municipality of San Blas.
