Letters To The Editor - April 03, 2020

Dear Sir,

Am I the only one wondering why the homeless and migrants are out and about wandering the streets while we’re all inside our houses under almost forced quarantine?

I haven’t seen any government trucks out there carrying personnel equipped with soap, towels, clean clothes, nail clippers, mouth covers, gloves and antibacterial gel. Nor have I seen medical personnel setting up makeshift showers with a few pieces of canvas to separate the migrants while they take a much needed shower.

Next time you see a homeless person or immigrant laying on the pavement, it could be because they’re suffering from the virus and not because they’re intoxicated.

Most of the people who usually give them coins as they pass by are in self isolation, and many eateries that graciously give them food to eat have closed.

Raquel Wheeler,
