Just days after Canadian Ambassador Sara Hradecky spoke at Lakeside about the strength of her country’s relationship with Mexico, players and staff from both nations were involved in a mass brawl at the World Baseball Classic.

A massive fight broke out during Saturday’s game in Phoenix, Arizona, when Canada’s Rene Tosoni was hit by a pitch from Mexico’s Arnold Leon. Dozens of players, staff and even fans traded blows and threw baseballs and water bottles as the game descended into farce.

Canada’s 10-3 victory eliminated Mexico from the competition, but Canada was also eliminated after a 9-4 loss to the United States. Video of Saturday’s incredible incident can be found on YouTube.  Evidently trade relations are far more cordial!
