Chapala’s home-grown ace sailor Elena Oetling Ramírez once again showed her mettle at the International Laser Class Association North American Championships held June 30-July 1 in Kingston, Ontario.

She earned top standing among female contestants and second place overall behind Robby Meek of the USA in the ILCA 6 Gold Fleet competition.

The event is part of the qualification process for the 2023 Pan American Games to be held in Santiago Chile, with Elena now in a great position to gain a spot on Mexico’s sailing team.
