Perez, who races for the Red Bull team and is challenging for the 2022 F1 crown, will renew acquaintances with the developer of the new powerboat racing series, Spanish businessman Alejandro Agag, who hired the young Tapatio to drive for his GP2 team in 2007.

Agag is a pioneer of sustainable motor racing, and co-founded the FIA Formula E World Championship and Extreme E.

According to a CNN report, the idea of an electric powerboat series emerged during the first pandemic lockdown, while the Spaniard was taking a walk beside the River Thames in London.

“I think the transition to cleaner mobility in the streets, off-road, in the water, (is) all part of the many solutions that together will have to be applied to try to mitigate the big challenge of climate change and global warming,” Agag told CNN.
