Kids’ Day fun starts this weekend

Local children will be feted over the next two weeks at a series of the special events tied into the April 30 national celebration of El Día del Niño.

pg15bChapala City Hall and the DIF Family Development Agency will host Festival Niños Alegres events scheduled in different localities, creating fun for little nippers with clown and magic shows, traditional games, toy giveaways and refreshments.

The program kicks off Friday, April 28, 6 p.m., at the plaza in San Antonio Tlayacapan.

The parties continue Saturday, April 28, with the customary cow-poking hoedown co-sponsored by Asociación de Charros Ajijic at the town bullring, 4 p.m., and more festivity at Chapala’s plaza, 5 p.m.

The festival goes to the plaza in San Nicolas de Ibarra Sunday, April 30, 7 p.m., and the one hour later at Atotonilquillo’s plaza. The final events are set for May 8, 5 p.m. at the St.Andrew’s church parking lot in Riberas del Pilar, and the plaza at Hacienda de La Labor, May 9, 6 p.m.

Other special activities geared for youngsters include the Festìn de los Muñecos puppet shows set for Saturday, April 29, 11 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. at the CCAR Artes and Culture Center in La Floresta, followed on Sunday with Dia de Niños workshops and entertainment running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Also on Sunday, the one-act comedy for young audiences titled “Los Actoreses” goes on stage at the Centro Cultural Ajijic, curtain time at noon.
