Chapala Tec Institute adds tourism studies to curricula

The Chapala branch of Jalisco’s Instituto Tecnológico Superior (ITS) network is introducing tourism as a new field of study for students residing in the Lake Chapala region and municipalities located in the suburbs of metro Guadalajara.

pg13aThe new ITS-Chapala program will open for admissions to the fall semester beginning in August with a minimum enrollment of 30 students. It comprises eight semesters of course work and a ninth of professional residency and specialization, with a specific focus on environmental sustainability. The curriculum mirrors those previously established at ITS branches in the tourist hubs of Puerto Vallarta, Tequila and San Juan de los Lagos.

Registrations of prospective students are now underway through July 17, with admissions exams to be applied on July 29.

The new course provides local students with another career option, in addition to degrees offered in computer systems, industrial engineering, mechatronics, digital animation and visual effects, business management, and gastronomy.
