Exhibit brings city’s fragile dependency on Lake into sharp focus

Human history could not advance without water, nor could the development of a city as large as Guadalajara.  That’s the focus of “Ciudad Agua: del Mar Chapálico a Guadalajara,” a fascinating new exhibition that traces the vital symbiosis between Mexico’s second-largest metropolis and the country’s largest lake.

pg1dMounted by the University Center of Chapala (CU-Chapala) in collaboration with University of Guadalajara at Guadalajara’s Museo de la Ciudad, the exhibit arrives at a critical moment. As cities worldwide grapple with water scarcity, “Ciudad Agua” uses Guadalajara’s history as a case study in adaptation and survival, asking implicitly: Can this lifeline be sustained?
