Noise police to go on the prowl this weekend

Inspectors from Guadalajara city hall will spread out across the municipality this weekend to target nocturnal establishments that contravene newly approved anti-noise regulations, Mayor Ismael Del Toro confirmed this week.

The inspectors will be armed with noise-reading meters to register decibel levels; any establishment exceeding the norms can expect to receive a sanction, he said,  Under the regulations, repeat offenders may have their business licenses revoked.

Zones that inspectors will focus on closely are the Chapultepec and Lopez Cotilla dining and drinking corridors, as well as the principal avenues of Colonia Providencia, although Del Toro said the operations will cover the entire municipality.
