New eatery is feather in cap of ‘Little Japan’

The nine-month-old Japanese restaurant Irori is a solid entry in a part of midtown Guadalajara that is already bursting with offerings.

And it seems to be creating a Nipponesque (I made up that word) district that is several steps above the city’s uncountable sushi joints. Okuma is right across the street from Irori, Little Tokyo is two blocks away, and several others (Toyo, the illustrious Suehiro and others) are not far off, making the environs of Centro Magno, and maybe the entire area, a “Little Japan.”

Living in “Restaurant Paradise” is a good thing in many respects. (Negative aspects are too much competition for existing restaurants, too much turnover, low quality and lack of a knowledgeable waitstaff.) One of the positive aspects is that I didn’t have far to go to find Irori.
