Residents of Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta will be hit by a barrage of “new year” Covid restrictions due to come into effect on the evening of Friday, December 25.
The measures will run through January 10 and will not be applicable in other areas of Jalisco, including Chapala and the north shore of Lake Chapala.
The new strategy is aimed at reducing the spread of the virus and is similar to the “red button” partial lockdown implemented at the beginning of November.
All nonessential businesses, supermarkets, restaurants, bars and shopping malls must close at 7 p.m. each day. (Restaurants may continue to offer take-out service after this time.)
In addition, commercial malls, plazas, shopping corridors and street markets will remain shut on Saturdays and Sundays.
