A judge has approved the preventive detention for eight months of a suspect detained after the December 18 slaying of former Jalisco Governor Aristoteles Sandoval in Puerto Vallarta.
Named only as Raúl “N, “the suspect is not accused of participating in the crime itself, but of offering officers a substantial quantity of money and two vehicles as they investigated leads at an apartment building four days later. He will remain behind bars while the investigation into the crime continues but prosecutors must file formal charges within eight months.
In addition, police have detained two women alleged to have participated in the “clean up” of the crime scene in the restaurant/bar where Sandoval was assassinated. Named as María “N” and Cassandra “N”,,the legal status of the women had yet to be determined at press time.
Meanwhile, state investigators say they have identified several participants in the slaying from video surveillance footage, and issued the appropriate arrest warrants.
