Guadalajara’s 24th annual May Cultural Festival will take a different turn from past editions, offering locals what organizers are calling “an unforgettable multi-sensory experience,” that includes both live and virtual events.
The live portion of this year’s festival, scheduled May 5 to 30, consists mainly of an open-air “cultural walk” featuring works, installations and video performances by well-known and up-and-coming talents.
The walk starts at the plaza facing the grandiose Templo Expiatorio (Juarez and Enrique Diaz de Leon), where an installation created by Sofia Crimen, titled “Perrón,” will be on display. Her idea is to suspend sculptures of dogs above the plaza, paying tribute to the canines that have served as company during many isolated hours of the Covid pandemic.
