The Drone Squad
Zapopan police are to get a new tool to help them maintain order and fight crime: a drone squad.
Six teams of drones will cover the large metro-area municipality, and be used not just for surveillance but also at massive events, such as soccer games and concerts. The drones will have the capacity to remain in the air for up to two hours at a time. The drones are expected to make their first flights within six or seven weeks.
BRT to Airport?
The Jalisco government is in talks with the federal Ministry of Communications and Transportation (SCT) about building a BRT (bus) line running along the Chapala highway, from the Guadalajara Periférico (ring road) to the city’s International Airport. Two dedicated BRT lines already operate in the metropolitan area: on the Calzada Independencia and the Periférico. Because the Chapala highway is under federal jurisdiction, permission from the SCT is required to construct the new line.
