In spite of an unexpected rain shower, the Revolution Day parade held on Guadalajara’s Paseo Chapultepec on Monday, November 21 went off without a hitch, bringing together 2,900 sportsmen, women and children demonstrating their talents in front of a much smaller crowd than usual due to the weather, but equally as enthusiastic.
Personnel from various municipal and state health and emergency services also participated in the parade.
Awards were also given out by state authorities to local sports stars who have excelled over the past year. Amateur athletes picking up the prizes were Miguel Becerra Rivas (archery), Jorge Luis Martínez Morales (speed skating); Isabel Aburto Romero (canoeing), and Nuria Lidón Diosdado García (artistic swimming).
Formula One race driver Sergio “Checo” Perez won the award for a professional sportsperson.
