Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus emphasized that public security would be his primary focus, and true to his word, he took immediate action within the first days of his administration.
While chairing a meeting of his newly formed Inter-institutional Security Committee — comprised of representatives from all three levels of government — Lemus made an urgent request for the National Guard to strengthen its presence in the state. Currently, around 6,000 federal police officers under the Defense Ministry work alongside local authorities to ensure security in Jalisco.
Lemus stated that he would like the number of National Guard officers stationed in the Guadalajara metropolitan area to increase to 2,500.
