Casa del Sol Inn is thrilled to welcome back acclaimed flamenco dancer Rodrigo Robles for an unforgettable evening of intimate flamenco on Saturday, April 26.
A native of Jalisco, Robles studied flamenco, classical and contemporary dance in Mexico before traveling to Seville, Spain, in 2004 to deepen his understanding of flamenco. He has returned to Spain regularly over the years to continue immersing himself in the art form.
His performance, “De Vuelta” (Returned), is a homecoming for his flamenco artistry and features an exceptional ensemble of Jalisco-based musicians: flamenco guitarist Fernando Martínez, esteemed flamenco cantaor Santiago Maisterra and producer and percussionist Emilia Gálvez.
Speaking about his connection to flamenco, Robles shared: “Going there, I found the culture of flamenco—not only academically and in terms of training—but by living it day to day, in the fiestas, in gatherings with people who are used to experiencing and enjoying that culture. That’s hard to replicate here because flamenco is not as widespread. It’s something else—an adopted tradition.”
Although De Vuelta began touring stages across Mexico in 2022, Robles says the performance has evolved:
“It has matured in execution thanks to the artists who are now contributing their own interpretations. While it’s a recital, it draws heavily from the established codes of tablao. And since we’re working as a fixed group, the recital elements are more pronounced.”
A gourmet dinner will be served from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by the performance at 7 p.m.
