Emergency services have searched over 95 kilometers of riverbanks and rural areas after a woman in the working-class La Martinica neighborhood of Zapopan was swept away by strong currents during a heavy storm that hit the metro area on July 15.

Reports said Vanessa Espino Estrada, 32, was riding home from work on a motorbike when she attempted to cross La Martinica’s arroyo, a stream that turns into a storm runoff canal during heavy rainfall.
