Expo Auto showcases dozens of new models

The Jalisco Automotive Dealers Association (AMDA Jalisco) will host the 20th edition of Expo Auto Estrenos on Saturday and Sunday, September 27–28 at Expo Guadalajara. Open from 10 a.m. each day, with a 35-peso entry fee.

Some 40 car brands and 400 vehicles will be on exhibit this year, organizers say.

This year’s showcase comes as the federal government considers raising import tariffs on Chinese-made cars from 20 to 50 percent—proposals that could soon push up consumer prices. Organizers say the fair may be buyers’ last chance to purchase vehicles at current prices before any increases take effect.

According to AMDA, new car sales in Jalisco have dropped 4.7 percent between January and August, while nationally they are down 0.7 percent. However, dealers expect to sell 1.5 million units nationwide, and around 110,000 in the state by the end of December.

The expo will also feature test drives and financing options, giving visitors a chance to compare and buy new models all in one place.
