Police deliver holiday smiles across metro area

Officers from the Guadalajara and Zapopan municipal police forces traded their regular duties for sleigh bells and toy bags last week, teaming up with Santa Claus and the Grinch to deliver holiday cheer to thousands of children across the metropolitan area.

The festivities marked the climax of two long-running community campaigns. In Guadalajara, the police department’s “Nos Toca Regalar” (“It’s Our Turn to Give”) initiative celebrated its 19th year, distributing nearly 38,000 toys. The campaign concluded with a grand event at Plaza de la Liberación, where Santa arrived via police helicopter to greet cheering families. Mayor Verónica Delgadillo joined the officers, thanking them for helping “bring joy and excitement to children” and strengthening community bonds through the police proximity model.

Simultaneously, the Zapopan Police carried out “Operación Regalo 2024,” delivering over 10,000 gifts to children in the Valle de los Molinos neighborhood. The event featured canine unit demonstrations and a theatrical performance before Santa’s dramatic helicopter arrival.
