Things to do in GDL: A triple treat for March - corn, bees and vines

Tejuino Day fun

The 4th Annual Día del Tejuino takes over Paseo Alcalde in downtown Guadalajara on Sunday, March 22, offering free tastings of the popular fermented corn beverage.

The event honors the 2023 municipal decree recognizing tejuino’s cultural significance as a tradition inherited from the Wixárika people.

Local producers will showcase variations of the drink, traditionally served with lime, salt, and often a scoop of ice cream.

Past editions have featured traditional dance and mariachi.

Honey Fair

The Guadalajara Beekeepers Association (Apicultores de Guadalajara) will hold the third Perla Tapatia Feria de la Miel (Honey Fair) from Thursday, March 26 to Sunday, March 29 under the arches that surround the Municipal Palace in the Guadalajara centro.

Around two dozen exhibitors from Jalisco and several other states will showcase their products and services at the fair.

Products made by bees that are used in alternative medicine will also be showcased.

These may include beeswax, bee pollen, propolis and royal jelly.

Bee pollen is known to provide many health benefits, as it contains vitamins, minerals, antibiotics and antioxidants.

Wine Festival

The third edition of the Tlaquepaque Wine Festival returns to Casa Agave on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28, promising a weekend dedicated to viticulture and culinary arts.
