Governor Pablo Lemus has issued a fresh warning to travelers at Guadalajara International Airport, urging them to avoid unauthorized vehicles and “not fall for traps” set by individuals posing as legitimate platform drivers outside arrivals.
Lemus urged passengers to use the free shuttle service connecting the terminal to the official platform vehicle lot, which has now logged over 23,000 rides in just over two weeks of operation.
The facility hit a record 2,204 rides in a single day on June 17. Operating 24/7, the lot offers free electric shuttle buses every five minutes between the terminal and the pickup area, plus restrooms, Wi-Fi, USB charging ports, and video surveillance.
Jalisco’s Transportation Secretariat (SETRAN) maintains ongoing supervision at the facility. On June 18, officials intercepted a driver attempting to arrange a ride outside the app — a violation that led to vehicle impoundment. The agency reminded passengers that off-app trips and vehicles with out-of-state plates are prohibited under state mobility laws.
Meanwhile, the state government is coordinating with the National Guard and airport administration to remove and sanction illegal operators.
The Jalisco State Prosecutor’s Office is investigating two extortion cases against drivers operating unauthorized platform vehicles near the airport.
