Virgin in Chicago

Zapopan’s revered Virgin of Zapopan statue has visited the Windy City for the first time.

Chicago was included in this year’s traditional annual sojourn to Los Angeles, Milwaukee and Detroit.   Between May 8 and 12 the diminutive, cornhusk statue was feted at several masses held at St Joseph Parish Church on South Hermitage Avenue, as well as during a procession in the neighborhood.

Outside of California, Chicago boasts the largest population of expatriate Jaliscienses.
