Mexico & Canada disappointed as US border stays closed

The U.S. government has decided not to reciprocate Canada’s decision to restore all travel across their shared border.

The Canadian government announced this week that the U.S.-Canada border will reopen on August 9, for fully vaccinated U.S. citizens (authorized vaccines only) with a negative PCR coronavirus test, and for travelers from other countries on September 7.

“Given the outbreak and continued transmission and spread of Covid-19 within the United States and globally, the Secretary has determined that the risk of continued transmission and spread of the virus associated with Covid-19 between the United States and Canada poses an ongoing specific threat to human life or national interests,” a U.S. Department of Homeland Security statement read.
