AMLO & Biden to hold White House pow-wow July 12

President Andrés Manuel López Obrador promises to present a “bold” immigration proposal when he meets with U.S. president Joe Biden at the White House on Tuesday, July 12.

The meeting was scheduled quickly after AMLO declined to attend last month’s Summit of the Americas in Los Angeles due to the absence of invites for the region’s leftist presidents.

According to the White House, the two leaders will “discuss their efforts to address global challenges, such as food security, and discuss joint competitiveness initiatives, such as work being undertaken in the U.S.-Mexico High-Level Economic Dialogue.” Biden and AMLO also “plan to discuss their visions for North America, cooperation on migration, joint development efforts in Central America, security, climate and energy, and global issues,” a White House statement said.
