Foreign citizens, including Mexicans, requiring non-immigrant U.S. visas will face significantly higher costs starting next year.
Under a new mandate from the recently passed “One Big Beautiful Bill”, a substantial fee increase is set to take effect on January 1, 2026.
The most significant change is a new US$250 fee that will be added to the standard application cost for most non-immigrant visas, including tourist (B1/B2), student (F), exchange (J), and work visas (H, L). This will raise the total cost of a standard tourist or business visa application from the current US$185 to approximately US$435. The U.S. government says the increases are required by law to cover enhanced processing costs and border security measures.
The new fees will apply to all visa applications postmarked on or after January 1, 2026, affecting citizens of Mexico and all other countries seeking U.S. visas.
