Three bodies dumped on highway in Jocotepec

The discovery of three corpses dumped on the side of the highway on the eastern outskirts of San Juan Cosala early Saturday, April 14 has put lakesiders in a state of shock over a rising tide in criminal violence.

Police officers from Chapala and Jocotepec congregated at the grisly scene shortly after the bodies of three men were found piled on top of one another near the entrance road to Los Charales around 7:30 a.m. Agents from the  Public Prosecutor’s Office (Ministerio Publico OR MP) in Jocotepec took charge of the case after determining that the location was inside the boundary line of that jurisdiction.

Before removing the bodies for autopsy in Ocotlan, state forensic investigators found that that two of the men showed signs of death by strangulation while the third had been shot.

Although formal identification of the murder victims was still pending Monday morning, local police officials have confirmed that all three were residents of Ajijic.
