Chapala Tec readies for new curriculum

The Instituto Tecnologico Superior de Chapala (ITS) is one of a dozen college level technological schools nationwide selected to take part in the development of a new curriculum geared to train engineers in digital animation and visual effects.

Academic staff from participating institutions drafted an initial outline of the study program during work sessions held this week at Ajijic’s Hotel Real.

ITS Chapala has been tagged as a prime campus for implementing the new curriculum – set for a probable launch in the fall semester starting next August. The program meshes with the thrust of the school’s existing academic program, as well as its excellent potential for feeding capable manpower to the nearby Chapala Media Park, where private enterprise is already generating high-tech multimedia products.

Among those on hand to open the planning conference was Ricardo Gomez Quiñones, CEO of the  Kaxan Media Group, an outfit that is creating new job opportunities at the Media Park as it churns out successful projects, including the wildly popular video game Taco Master. Hailing the concept of the new career curriculum, he noted that it is totally in sync with current worldwide business trends and Mexico’s future employment market.
