Chapala restaurateurs hustle to welcome back customers

Following the May 18 announcement that Chapala’s restaurant sector is being allowed to resume at-table service for their customers, dozens of local eateries have filed their paperwork for official authorization.

pg3aChapala Tourism Director Gastón de la Torre, the official in charge of handling the applications, reports that 120 local restaurateurs registered for full service permits during the first week his office initiated the procedures.

Interviewed by the Guadalajara Reporter on Monday, May 25, he stated that most applications have been provisionally approved upon presentation of the restaurant’s current business license, the proprietor’s official identification and signature on a written pledge (Carta de Compromiso) to adhere to the rules. He noted that the official stickers issued by the state government will be gradually dispersed as inspection visits to each restaurant are programmed.
