Covid-19 spread accelerates

Confirmed Covid-19 cases in Chapala jumped from two on Thursday, June 4 to 11 on  Sunday, June 7, while the tally in Jocotepec rose from five to nine over the same period, with the municipality’s first death attributed to the disease, according to statistics reported on the Jalisco Department of Health (SSJ) Radar system.

pg1aOn Thursday, June 11, the federal Health Ministry (SSA) national database platform reported the first death in Chapala, although this had not been confirmed by state authorities at this newspaper’s press time.

On Monday afternoon, Chapala Mayor Moisés Anaya revealed that four of the new cases registered between June 4 and 11 were detected in Ajijic and the other four in Chapala proper. Three of the new patients are females and the other eight are males, according to the SSA. Two of them are minors, one male and one female, in the 10 to 14 age range.
