Dash cams will monitor Chapala police patrols

Chapala police patrol trucks have been fitted with dashboard cameras that were included in a package of new gear delivered to the municipality’s Public Security Department (DSP) Tuesday, September 9.

pg3aThe heavy-duty cameras are capable of capturing images from four vantage points, providing views from the front, back and inside of each vehicle, to keep track of police activity in the field. Video footage and audio recorded by the dash cams are monitored 24/7 by personnel on duty at police headquarters.   

Among other goods and supplies distributed to fortify DSP operations were components of an upgraded radio and telecommunication system, and batons, handcuffs and new uniforms to outfit officers.
