The Chapala police force appears to have nabbed a presumed repeat offender involved in a number of recent home break-ins, according to information provided by Mayor Moisés Anaya this week.
Anaya said the suspect was caught red-handed while trying to escape with a flat-screen television stolen from a residence in La Floresta. Officers intercepted the man after chasing him down as he attempted to flee by jumping across several rooftops in the neighborhood.
The mayor pointed out that the same individual had been detained on suspicion of burglary barely a week earlier, but was released from custody after posting bond.His latest detention may help keep him behind bars until he is brought up for trial on assorted charges.
