LCS calls extraordinary membership meeting

The board of directors of the Lake Chapala Society (LCS) has scheduled an extraordinary meeting of current members for Thursday, February 11, 10 a.m., to carry out voting on the adoption of several amendments to the organization’s constitution.

Three of the proposed amendments concern modernized methods for conducting annual general meetings (AGMs) of the membership. Approval of a modification to Article 7, Section 7.05 would enable LCS to hold its AGMs via electronic means, such as internet video conferences, if it is determined that gathering members together physically in one location is not practical or advisable.

The amendment to Article 7, Section 7.03 would allow for remote voting via internet during any annual assembly conducted using electronic means. A change to Article 7, Section 7.06 would authorize the distribution of notices concerning AGMs through electronic platforms such as e-mail.

In addition, an amendment to the constitution’s Article 13 is intended to correct a minor error regarding a reference to Article 10.03 that should refer to Article 8.02 instead.

The February 11 extraordinary meeting will be an in-person event conducted on the LCS grounds, Calle 16 de Septiembre 16-A in Ajijic, in accordance with applicable Covid-19 safety protocols.  Among other measures, facemasks will be required, proceedings will be held outdoors, and social distancing will be maintained at all times. Members wishing to attend are asked to register in advance at the LCS office or by responding to a notice sent out this week by e-mail.
