Chapala Covid deaths taper off after December spike

After a sharp spike during December, Chapala’s official Covid-19 death toll has shown a downward trend over the first six weeks of 2021.

pg15aAccording to statistics reported by the Jalisco Health Department (SSJ), the number of deaths among Chapala inhabitants attributed to the SARS-CoV-2 virus jumped from 14 to 28 between December 1 and 31, a 100-percent increase. The figure by the end of January was 41, a more modest 46.42-percent rise. Only one additional death has been added in the first ten days of February.

Readers might keep in mind that SSJ statistics only reflect fatalities of patients under treatment in private and public health care facilities, not those succumbing in home care.
