Five men gunned down in Jocotepec bar

Jalisco criminal justice authorities are investigating the slaughter of five men who were gunned down Sunday, May 9, at a roadside bar on the outskirts of Jocotepec.

Municipal police were first to arrive on the crime scene following a report of gunshots fired around 5 p.m. at the Centro Botanero Memo, located adjacent to the Guadalajara-Morelia highway. They found five bodies sprawled on the floor among tables and chairs.

State investigators and a forensic team came later to collect evidence and transport the corpses to the morgue for autopsy.

According to witness accounts, four armed hitmen barged into the place and opened fire before quickly escaping the premises. Two of the murder victims were apparently adolescents. Another two individuals were wounded in the fray.

The dead have not been formally identified and the motive of the crime remains unknown.

Municipal police, state investigators and National Guard units secured the Jocotepec crime scene where gangsters gunned down five male victims last Sunday.
