The Chapala Opera Guild was formed in 2019 to support the production of the Metropolitan Opera’s Met HD Live broadcast program.
Now that the Met has re-started their 2021-2022 opera season, the Guild has the opportunity to work again with MovieSpace Cine at Centro Laguna in Ajijic.
Depending on the Guild’s ability to turn out the Jalisco opera community, the Guild has the potential to bring The Met back to Lakeside.
The challenge is to generate funds in three ways: season tickets, transmission sponsorships and Guild memberships. In order to present the Met Live HD series of ten broadcasts, a minimum of 200 season ticket subscriptions, which cost 2,700 pesos—270 pesos per performance—are needed.
To pay for the Met license fee, satellite and author rights’ fees, the Guild needs sponsorship contributions of 10,000 pesos per transmission. This can be funded by businesses and individuals who will receive program recognition for their generous support.
