New mayor asks his constituents to share their ideas

Thursday, September 30, Chapala Mayor Alejandro Aguirre Curiel, and most members of the new cabildo (city council), took the oath of office at a special council session held outdoors in front of City Hall.

pg9aThe event was attended by a socially distanced, invitation-only audience.

“Today I ratify that commitment I made, that we made with the inhabitants of Chapala: We want Chapala to do well, for the municipality to once again be not only a tourist destination with clean and dignified services and spaces, but also that peaceful and safe place in which many of us once lived,” Aguirre declared in his inaugural address.

“We have to start by getting involved,” he added, making a plea for citizens and political leaders to share proposals and work towards common goals.
