Chapala government Facebook site hijacked

As a parting “gift” to the new administration, techies working for Mayor Moisés Anaya have maintained control of the Chapala government’s official Facebook page.

The unknown parties did not relinquish the password codes and have renamed the site “Vive Chapala” where viewers will still find content accumulated over the last three years. Duplicates of briefs on government activities also appear on Anaya’s personal social network account along with postings about his family life.

Incoming Chapala City Hall Communications Director Elizabeth Oropeza is hoping to eventually recover the Gobierno de Chapala page rather than start over. In the meantime, she says current news items and public service announcements from City Hall may be accessed on the incumbent’s personal Facebook account registered in the name Alejandro Aguirre C.
