Ajijic’s Manix Restaurant charmed 50 guests on Friday, November 19, with an astounding gala dinner replicating the final first-class meal served aboard the doomed Titanic ocean liner before it collided with an iceberg and sank into the Atlantic Ocean.
The gourmet menu and evening’s entertainment were put together in collaboration with the Culinary Arts Society of Ajijic (CASA).
As diners sipped on flutes of champagne poured out for an opening toast, host and restaurant proprietor Héctor España welcomed them with warm words before cutting a red ribbon to symbolically launch the event.
The ten-course menu started with a Shrimp Canapé a L’Amiral, followed by Consommé Olga with a touch of lobster, Poached Salmon with Mousseline Sauce, Asparagus Salad with Champagne-Saffron Vinaigrette, Cornish Game Hen, and a Champagne Punch Romaine palate cleanser. Coming next were a Vegetable Terrine, Lamb with Mint Sauce, Swan Profiteroles with French Vanilla Cream, rounded off with a platter of assorted fresh fruit and cheese.
