Jalisco water authorities project rehab for lakeshore waste water treatment plants

The state of Jalisco has earmarked a budget of approximately 58 million pesos to be spent on upgrading waste water treatment plants (PTARs) operating in the Lake Chapala region.

pg11aThe news was revealed to lakeshore mayors or their representatives from Chapala, Jocotepec, Tuxcueca, Tizapán el Alto and La Barca during their gathering with Gastón González Alcérreca, head of the Ministry of Integral Water Management (SGIA), and Carlos Vicente Aguirre Paczka, director of the state water commission (CEA), held on June 14 at Chapala’s PTAR facility.

According to Chapala Mayor Alejandro Aguirre, the state has allotted 15.8 million pesos to carry out improvements at the CEA-operated PTARs in Chapala, San Antonio Tlayacapan and Santa Cruz de la Soledad. He also reported that he has had an opportunity to consult with González Alcérreca on the feasibility of the local government’s proposed plan to develop a sewage system for Riberas del Pilar.

Jocotepec Mayor José Miguel Gómez, on the other hand, expects that more than 10 million pesos is needed to rehabilitate and modernize the PTARs located in San Juan Cosalá, Chantepec and the municipal seat.

The scheduling for the improvement projects that will be carried out by CEA remains under wraps.
