With few concrete accomplishments to brag about for his first year in office, Chapala Mayor Alejandro focused much of his September 12 Informe de Gobierno on what he labeled as work for and close to his constituents.
Speaking before a large audience at a formal session of the Cabildo (city council) held at the Chapala plaza, the mayor’s official report on government activities from October 2021 through September 2022 was divided into four segments, covering his list of talking points interspersed with videos visually explaining each axis of the administration’s fields of action, wrapped together under the general title “Acciones por Tí.”
In the first segment, he highlighted his Mièrcoles Contigo program in which he and City Hall department heads hold periodic face-to-face public audiences with citizens to analyze and resolve common needs. A number of sessions have taken place in Chapala proper, but outreach to all five satellite communities remains incomplete 12 months into the government’s three-year term of office.
