American Legion Post 7, Anavets Mexico Branch 19 and the Canadian Veteran’s Support Association (CVSA) held simultaneous events on Friday, November 11 to commemorate U.S. Veterans Day and Canada’s Remembrance Day.
Post 7 Commander Randall Butler led a low-key service that began with flag honors and the national anthems of Mexico, Canada and the United States, and concluded with a horn player’s somber rendition of taps. Butler paid special tribute to war veterans who deal with issues of homelessness and suicide threats.
Anavets and CVSA organized more elaborate ceremonies took place at Mama’s Musical Bar in San Antonio Tlayacapan and Chapala’s Hotel Montecarlo respectively.
