Anti-Semitic graffiti shocks Jewish community

The Lake Chapala Jewish Congregation (LCJC) is raising a public outcry after the November 2 discovery of anti-Semitic graffiti painted on the wall of a private property in Ajijic.

pg1bAlthough the graffiti was promptly erased, local residents are deeply concerned that signs of hate against people of the Jewish faith are appearing here as anti-semitic sentiments are rising elsewhere in the world.

The site where images of a Nazi swastika, the Star of David, a graphic drawing of male anatomy had been spray painted along with the words F*** Jews and several initials is located adjacent to Callejón al Tepalo, the curving street leading to the Tepalo hiking trail. It is situated across the street from the Santos Degollado Secondary School campus and directly below the school’s athletics track.
