Los Cantantes del Lago bid a fond farewell

Each and every holiday season Lakeside residents look forward to Los Cantantes del Lago annual holiday show.

This year will be no different with one exception, it will be the last performance of the much-heralded and esteemed Choir. As a popular song from the Sixties reminds us, “to everything there is a season”. And so that time has arrived for the Musical Director of Los Cantantes, Timothy G. Ruff Welch, who will turn in his Maestro’s baton after this year’s final Christmas Show at The BRAVO! Theatre.

For over 21 years at the helm of Lakeside’s oldest and largest Choir, Tim feels the time is right to wrap up his duties as the singing group’s leader. Back in 2001 when Tim—rather suddenly—became Los Cantantes musical director, he hadn’t foreseen spending more than two decades not just leading the group, but developing its talent pool, teaching singing to both novices and those able to read music, raising money for the group’s annual shows, coordinating and accompanying as pianist the bi-annual Showstoppers concerts, as well as fundraising and overseeing details of all it takes to run an organization. His tireless efforts resulted in performing 42 seasons of sold-out concerts Lakeside, an accomplishment that Tim takes pride in.
