CU-Chapala launches studies

Classes are finally underway at the Centro Universitario de Chapala (CU-Chapala), albeit in temporary quarters provided to the University of Guadalajara (UdeG) affiliate by the Chapala government.

According to Laura Puebla Perez, General Coordinator of  UdeG Academic Control, 48 of 56 applicants were admitted to the Bachelor’s Degree program in nursing. At the end of last week, 32 places were still available to pursue studies in the field of gerontology, leaving opportunities for any students who failed to gain admissions to other career programs offered in the UdeG system.

The induction course for new students entering the 2023-A calendar term are currently taking place in the former elementary school at Calle Niños 69, more recently occupied as an annex for City Hall administrative agencies. All CU-Chapala programs will eventually move to a permanent campus located on the northern outskirts of Chapala. The university holds the property title for the 20-hectare spread of land, but construction of the institution’s teaching facilities has not yet commenced.
