Man shot to death inside Centro Laguna mall

A man, approximately 50 years of age, was gunned down Tuesday, March 14 inside the Centro Laguna shopping mall, at the intersection of the Libramiemto bypass and the Chapala-Jocotepec highway.

pg11aMunicipal police were summoned quickly to the scene, along with paramedics, who were unable to revive the victim.

The District V’s Special Regional Prosecutor’s Office took over the investigation, while the deceased man’s body was transferred to the Jalisco Institute of Forensic Sciences in Guadalajara for an autopsy.

Reports indicated that the man, who was apparently the husband of a businesswoman, had just left a restaurant when the assault occurred at 5:20 p.m.

No other information about the victim has been released by authorities.

Chapala city hall later issued a bulletin asking citizens to avoid speculation on the case, since disinformation had started to circulate on social media platforms.

A strong police presence both inside and outside the shopping mall was maintained until late that evening.

The crime scene was cleared by early Wednesday morning and business activities at the mall had returned to normal.
